Shimano has won two Gold Awards for its new Shimano XTR and Alfine component groups at the Eurobike Award design contest in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The two Gold Awards for outstanding design were handed over to Yozo Shimano, president of Shimano Inc., during a prize ceremony August 30 at the Eurobike show grounds in Friedrichshafen.
It was the second consecutive year that the Eurobike Award is being organized to honour innovative new products in cycling. This time, 212 products were sent in for the contest. At the prize ceremony, 5 Gold and 5 Silver Awards were being granted for the most outstanding designs. Design represents the successful combination of technical know-how and innovation. In a sea of products, quality characteristics that presuppose reputability, integrity and expertise are in great demand – and the Eurobike Award seal of design quality also represents a desicion making aid for the consumer.
The evaluation criteria for the Eurobike Award were as follows: degree of innovation, design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, environmental friendliness, functionality, ergonomics, utility value, safety and brand value.
Team Shimano is very proud to have won two Eurobike Gold Awards for products that will be available in the market soon. This acknowledgement of our innovative designs stimulates us to keep on developing new products to promote cycling.
