In an exciting end to his professional cycling career, Matt White took line honors in the Cronulla International Grand Prix ahead of a first class field of professional cyclists including last years winner Graham Brown.
At the end of the race which saw a steady stream of attacks from the likes of Stuart O’Grady, Brad McGee, Baden Cooke and Robbie McEwen, White succeeded with a late attack on the same streets that he began his cycling career many seasons before. The top five places were filled by regular names on the international cycling scene with last years winner Graham Brown taking second ahead of New Zealander Julian Dean, Allan Davis and Baden Cooke.
The women’s race saw plenty of attacking and several attempts at establishing a break but was eventually won in a sprint finish by Kate Bates of team T-mobile who held off a fast finishing Rochelle Gilmore and Renee Fortunata.
